For almost two hundred years W & J Graham's has been an independent family business renowned for producing the finest Port wines. Graham's has recently been voted the World's Most Admired Port brand by Drinks International.
The grapes that are used to make Port must be grown in the mountainous Upper Douro region of Northern Portugal, the world's first officially demarcated wine region in 1756. The Douro is perhaps the most challenging wine-growing region on earth. Its mountainous terrain and steep, winding valleys create a kaleidoscope of microclimates, each producing unique wines.
Aged Tawny Port carries an indication of age on the label. This relates to the average number of years spent maturing in barrels before they are finally bottled.
Tasting note: Rich, mature fruit flavours; beautifully mellowed; with a luscious, long finish. Perfect match with sweet desserts, such as apple pie with cinnamon or almond cake.
Aged Tawny Port should be served slightly chilled.
Taylor's 10 Year Old Tawny is a superb example of the aged tawny style. Mellow and elegant, combining delicate wood notes with rich aromas of mature fruit, it is bottled for immediate drinking.
A glass of chilled 10 Year Old makes a delicious aperitif, but is equally good matched to a hard, nutty cheese or a pudding such as apple pie, tarte tatin, baked figs, orange tart, caramel tart, or cooked strawberries with pepper.
Taylor's 10 Year Old Tawny is delicious served lightly chilled at the end of the meal.
Deep chestnut brown core encircled by a narrow brick rim. A rich figgy nose with a background of toffee and mocha, notes of plum and apricot, spicy hints of black pepper, nutmeg and fleeting scents of jasmine, all come together in a heady complex harmony. Dense and luscious on the palate, with a wonderful velvety smoothness. The mellow flavours of butterscotch and molasses merge with rich jammy red berry flavours, a perfect blend of youth and maturity
Made from the extensive reserves of tawny stocks stored in the firm's lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Taylor's 325th Anniversary Reserve makes a delicious dessert wine, and combines particularly well with flavours of almonds, berry fruit or dark chocolate. It can also be enjoyed as an accompaniment for rich, blue veined cheeses. It is excellent at the end of the meal, as a crowning moment of an enjoyable evening, served on its own or with a plate of walnuts or roasted almonds. It benefits from being served slightly chilled, particularly in warm weather.
